John Calipari didn’t seem to appreciate the Mizzou student section

John Calipari is one of the biggest names in college basketball. His tenure at Kentucky has turned the school into a one and done NBA factory. To Calipari’s credit, he’s merely taking advantage of the current rules that exist and if that gives him an advantage then so be it. However, it’s made him very unpopular among basketball fans. There’s a feeling that he pretends to care about his players, and puts himself above other coaches, when in reality he’s just like his competitors. He likely hears a lot of jeers about just this.

Which is why it’s really weird that the Mizzou student section got to him so easily. Kentucky is on the road against a conference opponent which means dealing with the opposing student section. Insults can range from horrible to uncreative when it comes to college students, but Mizzou’s decided to stick to a classic “You suck” chant. This, for whatever reason, got to Calipari.

Obviously Calipari had no interest in answering that question. It’s possible he didn’t think it was a good question and ignored it, or maybe silence was how he felt about the student section. We’ll never know the real reason, but he does look pretty irritated sitting there with the constant jeers coming at him. Anybody can have a bad day where small comments hit home, but this one was strange to say the least. If Kentucky’s up big in the second half Calipari runs the score a little we might know his true feelings about that chant.
