In the promo for Legion, Chapter 3 David makes no promises …
Chapter 2 of Legion ended in an emotional upheaval for its protagonist, David Haller. In a telepathic vision, he saw his sister Amy detained by members of Division 3, the same government division that he escaped from earlier in the series. It is not exactly clear how much he knew about why they captured her, but he clearly bought Sydney’s suggestion that Division 3 would hold onto Amy as bait. This interaction illustrated that, while he may not be completely comfortable embracing his powers, he has at least begun to differentiate them from the general chaos that plagues his mind.
David was probably also aided by the closeness of his relationship with his sister: she seems to be the only family he has a real connection to at this point. It is not clearly established that the man seen reading to him in his memories is his real father, and if not, David may not know who his actual father is. Of course, readers of the comics do know who David’s father is, but it is hard to imagine Charles Xavier reading a book entitled “The World’s Angriest Boy in the World” to his son.
The official synopsis for the upcoming third episode reads:
"David searches for answers while a threat looms."
The promo for the episode provides at least one answer to both of those questions. He will look for answers and explanation about what happened to his sister, and the threat is the circling Division 3, headed by ‘The Eye.’ However, Legion has so many layers that the actual outcomes are very unlikely to be so cut-and-dry.
Next: Legion Chapter 2 recap and review
As presented in the promo (viewable HERE) David will also undergo yet another medical evaluation. His reaction to whatever the test is, it clearly set him off, and his reaction gives an even clearer look at some of his powers. The one thing that has changed since we last saw him really use his powers is his awareness of them. In the first episode or two, David did not even know what his powers could do. Now he doesn’t even deny that he made whatever it was explode, and admits that it could happen again.
