It’s been a while since we’ve seen Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a wrestling ring, but that’s exactly what happened after last night’s Monday Night Raw!
Fortunately – or unfortunately, depending on your point of view – The Rock wasn’t wrestling on Monday in Los Angeles. Rather, he was filming a scene for the upcoming film about Paige called Fighting With My Family. The film, which is based on the BBC Channel 4 documentary of the same name, already has an all-star cast that includes Attack the Block star Nick Frost and Game of Thrones legend Lena “Cersei Lannister” Headey.
The Rock will be both starring in, and executive producing, the film.
Pro Wrestling Sheet got the scoop on Johnson’s appearance, which was – in actuality – a chance to film scenes for the film.
He was in total directorial mode as he guided the audience through what precisely he would need for Fighting With My Family.
It turned out that The Rock was filming a scene that was meant to be Paige’s debut in the WWE. When he announced the name AJ Lee, the audience obviously exploded in a chant for CM Punk.
Ever the obliging soul, Johnson decided that he would call the former wrestler. And though he didn’t answer, The Rock – and the entire Staples Center in Los Angeles – left him a voicemail.
Afterwards, CM Punk thanked The Rock — and the crowd at the Staples Center — for being so nice.
Thanks Los Angeles. Nice to hear from you. @STAPLESCenter

Now, reportedly, the WWE brass wasn’t exactly thrilled that Johnson called up CM Punk. In fact, they literally dispatched someone to ringside during the taping to get Johnson to stop talking about CM Punk. We’ll recall that, in 2014, CM Punk left the WWE on less-than-favorable terms, so perhaps that had something to do with it.
There’s no word yet on when Fighting with my Family will premiere.
