OG Anunoby

SF/PF, Indiana

OG Anunoby is the prototypical positionless defender that could have a massive impact in the modern NBA which has trended towards player smaller power forwards. At 6-foot-8 with a massive wingspan and good lateral mobility, Anunoby will likely be able to guard nearly every position on the court once he adds some additional strength to his frame. In college, we’ve seen him bottle up Jamal Murray and guard the best player on the opposing team regularly. His defense also translates onto the score sheet. In his two seasons at Indiana, Anunoby has averaged 2.2 blocks and 2.2 steals per 40 minutes.

On offense, Anunoby is a pretty massive question mark. He’s a great athlete who is at his best as a cutter or on the offensive boards. While his 3-point shooting last season gave hope that he might be a top tier 3-and-D prospect, it regressed significantly this season, something that was expected based on his poor free throw shooting.

The other big question with Anunoby is how well he’ll recover from a season-ending knee injury that he suffered earlier this year. The specifics of the injury haven’t been disclosed publicly, but the school says he’ll make a full recovery. Assuming Anunoby bounces back to full health, he’s a great first round pick for a Denver team that could use some added athleticism.
