Previously declared untouchable, the Detroit Pistons have made it clear that they are listening to offers pertaining to Andre Drummond and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

According to ESPN, the Detroit Pistons are entertaining offers on Andre Drummond and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, players that were deemed untouchable in the early parts of the trade deadline.

The Pistons haven’t committed to moving these guys, it seems like that they are just testing the waters and working the phones to see if they can improve their team. This is definitely an interesting move for a team that is currently sitting in the eighth spot in the East and has won six of their last nine games.

The Pistons have a solid core of Tobias Harris, Drummond, Caldwell-Pope and Reggie Jackson. Stanley Johnson has been spotty in his sophomore season but he definitely has the talent to be an impact player.

The average age of the core mentioned above, including T.J. Leaf, would be 22.6 years old. This team already ranks in the top 10 in defensive efficiency as they are holding teams to 101.7 points per game, the fifth-best mark in the league.

Detroit has not made a real run at anything meaningful this decade. Perhaps moving Drummond for a real return could jumpstart those efforts, as the team prepares to move back into the heart of the city. The Pistons also need a star to build around, so tearing down this current team while acquiring draft picks wouldn’t be the worst strategy.
