Ron Leary is going to be a sought after commodity on the free agent market. Who are the best fits for him?

This year appears to be the perfect time for Cowboys guard Ron Leary to hit the open market. Leary entered the season as a backup, but an early injury to La’El Collins thrust him right back into the starting guard spot. Then, the Cowboys offensive line really became a thing. The Cowboys weren’t losing, and their line was getting all of the praise. There were even some voices saying that the entire unit should be in MVP consideration.

Being one of the five players on one of the most talked about units in the NFL got Leary a lot more name recognition than he ever could have imagined. Now Collins is expected to be back and into his role as the starter. So Leary has all of the incentive to test the market, and after such a great break for him in 2016, teams are going to be ready to offer a lot of money to bring in any piece from that Dallas line. So who are the five teams that could use Leary the most?

5. Los Angeles Rams

The Rams offense took a lot of heat this season. From Case Keenum to number one overall pick Jared Goff, the struggles were real. They cast down on second-year running back Todd Gurley as well, and talk about him being the next Trent Richardson have already begun. While Gurley deserves some heat, and the first appearances of Goff were far from pleasant, the big unit that should take the majority of the heat is the offensive line.

The Rams really do not have any pieces that they can consistently look at on the line and think that they are set for the near future. Rodger Saffold may be the most consistent lineman, but most of his season he has been out of position, playing guard when he certainly can and should be moved to tackle. He would be kicking Greg Robinson out of his left tackle position, and frankly, the former top-five pick deserves to lose his spot. However, without Saffold at guard, it leaves Cody Wichmann and Jamon Brown at the guard position. These two are not necessarily deserving of starter status either.

With that in place, their best option this offseason is to spend on a guard who can hold up the interior. Leary would be a great fit, and would provide at least a little stability moving forward on a unit that needs it.
