Dwyane Wade posterizes Alex Len for the game-winning dagger (Video)
Dwyane Wade took over in the clutch and ended a career in the process
Dwyane Wade isn’t quite the same player he used to be. His athleticism has sapped him of a lot of what he used to do and it’s left him a less consistent player. However, every once in awhile he has one of those nights where he turns back the clock. When Wade decides he isn’t going to lose then there isn’t much else the defense can do to stop him. Tonight, the Chicago Bulls came back from a late deficit to defeat the Phoenix Suns and Wade was a huge part of it.
Wade finished the first half with 0 points, and scored all 23 of his points in the second half and overtime. Of all the points he scored none of them turned back the clock quite like his posterization of Alex Len. In a clutch overtime situation, Len’s block could have shifted the momentum of the game entirely in the other direction. Instead, Wade has made the very tough decision for Len that he must retire immediately.
Poor Len — he was young and the potential for his career was high but Wade ended that tonight. Not just with putting him on a poster, but because this was the dunk that won the game. Wade knew it and he postured like it following the dunk. If the game was still in doubt he never would have stood there and thrown his hands in the air, but he knew it was over. When you win the game and end a man’s career at the same time it’s hard not to celebrate.
Wade doesn’t do this very often and sadly there isn’t much time left for him to do it. As his career reaches a conclusion it leaves us wanting to appreciate moments like this that much more.
