1. Safety

As poor and questionable as the defensive line may look on paper, the safety position is the one with the biggest holes. Duke Ihenacho is a free agent, and it is not like his play warranted a quick re-signing. That said, Deangelo Hall has lost a step already and is coming off of injury, and this team resorted to picking Donte Whitner up off of the street to slot in during the late stretches of the season. Needless to say, it did not go well for Whitner.

With that said, this team is going to have to hit this position early and often in every area of the offseason. Eric Berry is a big name, but it is tough to see him slipping out of the Chiefs reach. Still, Barry Church and Tony Jefferson are some big name consolation prizes and would be great fits on the defense.

Jordan Poyer and Michael Thomas are more depth names but could provide starter play, and both are better bets than what the Redskins currently have. In the draft, it seems as though Jamal Adams will be out of reach. However, an injury to Malik Hooker could warrant a slide just enough to make him a steal in the first round for Washington.

Either way, it appears defensive line or safety are the best bets for this team to hit in the first round. If they do not make any moves in free agency, expect multiple picks to come to this position, because the lack of depth is that bad right now.
