YES Network will be making its return to Comcast soon, so when will Yankees fans get the chance to watch their beloved Bronx Bombers again?
The 2016 New York Yankees season for Comcast Xfinity subscribers was not a pleasant one, to say the least. That was because fans were basically not able to watch the Bronx Bombers at all, due to a dispute between the cable giant and the YES Network, the team’s exclusive outlet for everything Yankees. It was taken away from the service after the end of the 2015 season and some wondered whether or not it would ever be back for viewing.
Earlier this year, though, those die-hard Yankees fans with Comcast got the news that they were all waiting for, as the two sides came to an agreement to get the Yankees back on the air. While the announcement was a more than welcome one, the one piece that was missing was an actual return date. All that was announced was that it would be back on the Comcast air in time for the 2017 season to begin, with the Yankees taking on the AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays on April 2.
As for any updates as to when YES will be back, a new report from NJ.com notes that an April return just in time for Opening Day seems the most likely at this point. Of course, this means that fans won’t be able to watch Yankees spring training games that air exclusively on the YES Network. The Yankees begin spring training outings on Friday as they take on the Philadelphia Phillies. The game starts at 1:00 p.m. ET and will be shown on the YES Network, as well as the MLB Network where it’s not blacked out.
So have no fear, Yankees fans with Comcast bills coming in. While you might have to miss a little bit of spring training, the YES Network will be back on your television screens in time for the Bronx Bombers to embark on their 2017 summer journey.
