Arizona State is heading into the fourth quarter with a lead thanks to this huge shot from Sophie Brunner
Arizona State is trying to finish their season strong. They entered conference play with a dominant 9-2 record but have slipped up against Pac-12 competition. Entering tonight’s game against USC they were 8-8 against conference opponents. A win over USC would give them some momentum as they entered the season finale against ranked UCLA in two days, and help solidify any potential seeding in this year’s NCAA Tournament.
As the third quarter came to a close, everything was tied up at 46 and USC had just turned the ball over. As Senior Sophie Brunner picked up the loose ball to heave it full court the result should have been typical. It would either miss the rim entirely or come up short. Full court heaves rarely ever connect with the rim let alone get in. Well this time for Brunner she pulled off the unlikely.
THAT BUZZER BEATER. HOW. WHAT.

What a momentum swinger in ASU’s favor. The Sun Devils can’t afford to lose games to a barely over .500 USC team this late in the season and a shot like this might was just the kick they needed. They entered the fourth quarter and went on an immediate tear and are currently up big on USC. Brunner’s shot changed the momentum of the game and now she has the chance to finish her college career dancing in the tournament. It will be interesting to see how they do in their season finale against UCLA. A win against them would all but clinch a high seed in March.
