Practice makes perfect. Maybe that’s all Isaiah Thomas really needed.

In Isaiah Thomas’ second straight All-Star appearance last Sunday, the Boston Celtics point guard attempted to bounce a pass to himself before and slam the ball home in the All-Star Game.

It didn’t go so well.

As the video indicates, Thomas does redeem himself by making a 3-pointer from the corner, but that wasn’t enough redemption for the 27-year-old.

So, he pulled off the dunk that he meant to do in the All-Star Game in practice on Saturday.

The 5-foot-9 guard clearly still has his hops. And for those fans who still criticized Thomas for not being able to pull it off with all the lights shining on him, here was his response:

Quite honestly, it’s pretty hard to hate on Thomas these day. He made his second All-Star appearance last weekend, and the 2016-17 season has clearly been his best. Heading into Saturday, Thomas is averaging 29.7 points, 6.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 3.2 3-pointers per game. His 29.7 points per game are second only to Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook, who is averaging 30.8 points per contest.

In his last game on Friday, Thomas scored just 20 points, but it was his 42nd straight game with at least 20 points. That’s a Boston Celtics record. During that stretch, he is averaging 30.6 points and 3.6 3-pointers per game, shooting 47.0 percent overall and 39.4 percent from downtown.

Last season, his first full one with the Celtics, Thomas took off and averaged 22.2 points per contest. He played the final 21 games of 2014-15 in Boston and despite coming off the bench, he averaged 19.0 points over that span. The Phoenix Suns traded him at the trade deadline in February of 2014.

In 157 games with the Celtics, Thomas has averaged 24.4 points per game. In his 262 other games, he’s scored just 15.3 points per contest. Behind its point guard’s career year, Boston is just four games back of the Cleveland Cavaliers in second place in the Eastern Conference.
