Crystal Palace face Middlesbrough at Selhurst Park on Saturday, Feb. 25. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Sam Allardyce has never been relegated from the Premier League, but that record is very much on the line with his Crystal Palace side in 19th place in the table with 13 matches remaining. Allardyce has had almost two months in the job now, but so far there’s been limited sign of an uptick in form. The Eagles have won only once in 2017, away against Bournemouth, and were thrashed 4-0 at home to Sunderland in their only relegation six-pointer since the turn of the year. They have an opportunity to gain ground on fellow relegation battlers Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Boro, after a solid start to the season, have been on a terrible run of form themselves. They haven’t won a league match since a 3-0 victory against Swansea on Dec. 17, losing four and drawing four of their past eight matches. Some of those draws might seem impressive — 0-0 at home to Everton, 0-0 away to Watford — if not for what they tell us about Boro’s awful attack.
Aitor Karanka’s side have conceded fewer goals than any side outside of the top seven, but the 19 they’ve scored in 25 matches is comfortably the worst in the league, and that record looks like it might come back to haunt them. They’re only two points clear of relegation, and arguably have a weaker squad than at least three of the four teams below them, including Palace.
