Dwyane Wade’s priceless reaction to missing out on triple-double
Cristiano Felicio cost Dwyane Wade a triple-double Saturday night, and the three-time NBA champion’s reaction was absolutely priceless.
In the Chicago Bulls’ 18-point win over the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers Saturday night, one Bull recorded a triple-double.
Unfortunately, another Bull figured just one rebound shy of his own triple-double — one that was within reach on the final play of the game.
Though Jimmy Butler finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the win over the LeBron James-less Cavs, Dwyane Wade had 20 points, 10 assists and nine boards on the game’s final possession.
Too bad Bulls sophomore Cristiano Felicio didn’t realize that, snatching away a rebound from Wade at the buzzer that would’ve given the three-time NBA champion his triple-double.

While it’s unfortunate Wade missed out on the triple-double because of Felicio’s last-second brain fart, the reaction was fantastic. There are two reasons the reaction was so great: 1) Because Wade’s initial response, slumping against the basket, was a truly honest and unfiltered reaction and 2) He wound up laughing it off to make sure Felicio knew he wasn’t legitimately upset.
In the moment, when Wade slouched backwards and stared at his teammate, it was hard not to remember his harsh words for some of the younger players on the roster a few weeks back. Rajon Rondo called out Wade and Butler for their unfiltered remarks, and Wade’s reaction Saturday was almost a slide back into uncomfortable territory.
But atter Wade walked past Felicio — who probably felt unbelievably small in that moment — he turned backward and gave him a smile to let him know that while that wasn’t cool, everything was still good between them.

This isn’t how we pictured the twilight years of Wade’s NBA career, and not just because he’s no longer with the Miami Heat. But as long as Wade is playing babysitter in Chicago, we might as well enjoy small moments like these for what they are.
