The 89th Academy Awards have just given Suicide Squad an Oscar. This is the world we live in now.

When the Oscars decided to nominate Suicide Squad for Best Makeup this year, people felt some kind of way.

Even though it was just one nomination and even though it was for Makeup and Hairstyling, a category which does kind of makes sense, it was still just so weird. Suicide Squad was well-ridiculed as one of the most terrible movies of 2017. A film that was supposed to make DC a more legitimate name in the movie industry instead made it a laughingstock.

Many had a hard time wrapping their heads around the fact that Suicide Squad could now be referred to as the “Oscar-nominated” Suicide Squad.

Well, guess what? The Academy decided to actually give Suicide Squad that Oscar. In what feels like a Joker-level prank on the film industry, we give you reactions to the Oscar-winning Suicide Squad.

In addition to just sheer emotional tweets, there were those who immediately started comparing Suicide Squad‘s “achievements” with other films in the industry that have gotten around the same amount of Oscar recognition or even less.

As crazy, outlandish and distasteful as this is, there is one slightly good thing that has come out of Suicide Squad winning an Oscar.
