NHL Trade Rumors: Kyle Quincey likely getting traded
Kyle Quincey has been held out of practice because the New Jersey Devils are expected to trade him.
The New Jersey Devils rebuild is continuing to move along steadily. Of course, acquiring Taylor Hall from the Edmonton Oilers helped substantially. However, they had to give up Adam Larsson in return and they haven’t been able to properly replace him.
The Devils signed Kyle Quincey in order to help improve their blue line depth. Now it seems they’ll be trading him after he got held out of practice on Monday, just two days before the NHL trade deadline.
While Quincey won’t be fetching them the same return Martin Hanzal got the Arizona Coyotes, they should be able to get something for him. He’s a solid depth defenseman, something contenders are always looking to add this time of year. Quincey averages about 18 minutes of ice time per game and has 12 points in 53 games. He’s a positive possession player with a 1.5 percent relative CorsiFor percentage at even strength.
The Pittsburgh Penguins could make sense for Quincey. They have numerous injuries on their blue line and they need guys who can fill in. Quincey could fill a third pairing role for them. Any number of contenders could make sense. The New York Islanders could use an extra left handed defenseman, so maybe he’s an option there.

Quincey’s career high in points in 38, set back during the 2008-09 season. He could be traded very quickly, as the trade market dominoes have begun to fall. Quincey being held out of practice is telling, as trade candidates are typically held out to ensure they don’t get injured.
Don’t be surprised if he’s traded by the end of the day on Monday. Quincey will be a free agent after this season.
