DraftKings NBA Picks for February 28

There are only six games for our main DraftKings tournament to close out February, but there are plenty of stars in play. Who will fetch us the most for the price? Let’s check some trends this year!

More from DFS

Last night the money line was down to 249 points in the big tournament. This was one of the few nights where 5x value will cut it! The average is still around 5.5x value. One of the lineups hit 5.5x, and it was well above the money line!

Michael Beasley was ripping the Cavs up before leaving the game after just nine minutes. He still got 15 DraftKings points, but that was enough to help sink one of the lineups.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to watch our Twitter feed right up until lock time. We will try and relay the information out to you as soon as we can, along with any lineup changes. If you aren’t able to do that, my best advice is to lay off of anyone that may be injured.

If you would like to try DraftKings for the first time, use this link for the referral bonus! It is good for $20 worth of free entry tickets. We have plenty of advice on the site to help you turn that into a solid bankroll!

Point Guards

Best Bets:

Russell Westbrook ($12,100): I know that Westbrook is playing Utah, but he has still put up 122.25 DraftKings points against the Jazz in two games. He has also been over 70 DraftKings points in each of the last six games with the exception of a blowout loss to the Wizards in which he only played half the game. Westbrook is elite enough that I would trust him against anyone but Memphis.

Kemba Walker ($8,300): Walker put up 55 DraftKings points against the Lakers in the first meeting this year. The Kings are the only team in the last six games to keep him under 5x value. His February swoon from the floor seems to be over, and he is back to being one of the best point guards in the middle tier. If you don’t feel like paying for Westbrook, Walker should get you great value for his price.

Honorable Mention:

Mike Conley ($7,900): Conley has 100 DraftKings points in two games against the Suns so far this year. He has proven that he can be very good against teams that don’t defend the perimeter well. Conley can perform near an elite level if the matchup is right, and this one certainly seems to be.

D’Angelo Russell ($6,500): Russell picked up 32.25 DraftKings points in the first tilt with Charlotte, which would put him right at 5x value. The Lakers have let him loose in the second half. His minutes are now where they were before the injury, so his points should be back to that mark once again. Russell is 20-42 from the floor since the break as well, so he is putting a lot of shots down, which has him pretty much at max value right now.

Dark Horses:

Jameer Nelson ($5,400): His numbers are down some with the return of Emmanuel Mudiay, so that caps his value. However, Nelson is still starting and playing around 28 minutes per game. He picked up 27 DraftKings points in just 21 minutes against the Bulls early this season. Their point guard situation is still in flux, so Nelson has a great shot at 6x value tonight.

Rajon Rondo ($5,400): Rondo is by far the best point guard the Bulls have, but he hasn’t started a game since December. The Bulls are committed to Jerian Grant, Michael Carter-Williams, and Cameron Payne. MCW will likely sit again, and Grant and Payne have not played very well. That leaves Rondo to play about half the game, and he has played well when he is in there this month.

Reggie Jackson ($5,300): Just when it looked like Ish Smith was going to take his job, Jackson played 30 minutes on Sunday to Smith’s 16. Jackson also produced 33 DraftKings points. He racked up 40.75 in the first meeting with Portland, however, he seems to be on a short leash right now. Jackson has the potential to put up huge numbers for the price, but if he gets cold, he will be yanked. There is risk involved here.

My picks: Westbrook(PG), Walker(G); Walker(PG)

DraftKings

Shooting Guards

Best Bets:

Dwyane Wade ($7,500): Wade has been over 5x value in seven of the last ten games, and he has gone above 6x value in three of those. He only put up 33.75 DraftKings points in the first game with Denver, but the Bulls are a different team now. Wade is compensating for the lack of firepower from the point guard position, and it has helped his fantasy value. Just keep in mind he will sit if this game gets out of hand.

Nicolas Batum ($7,500): Like Walker, Batum torched the Lakers in the first meeting as well, racking up 46.75 DraftKings points. That is one of Batum’s best games of the year, but even when he isn’t at his best, he has been a solid contributor. Batum has averaged 37.7 DraftKings points per game since the break. That leaves him right at 5x value. Expect him somewhere above that tonight.

Honorable Mention:

Gary Harris ($5,900): Harris’s past four games have all been between 32.25 and 33.25 DraftKings points. It’s hard to argue with that kind of consistency. He still has a significant role off of the Denver bench, so his production should stay right in that area. He is about as reliable as you can get, which makes him terrific in cash games. The fact that he is consistently above 5x value makes him enticing in GPP formats as well.

Jordan Clarkson ($5,200): Clarkson hasn’t seen an uptick in minutes with Lou Williams gone, but he has seen his numbers increase slightly. D’Angelo Russell has benefitted more, but Clarkson still has produced 29.7 DraftKings points per game with Williams gone. Oh, and he put up 43.25 DraftKings points in the first game against Charlotte. There is potential for a big game here.

Dark Horses:

Rodney Hood ($4,100): Hood is still shaking the rust off, but he did come up with 23.75 DraftKings points against Washington on Sunday. Hood picked up 29.75 DraftKings points against the Thunder in the first meeting, and if Victor Oladipo is still out, that could increase. Hood is capable of putting up huge numbers, so he could be one of the bargains of the season at this price. He could also fall flat on his face.

Jeremy Lamb ($3,400): Of course, when I recommend Marco Belinelli over Lamb, the former plays just 14 minutes to Lamb’s 37. Lamb had a nice game against the Clippers, putting up 28.5 DraftKigns points. In fact, he has produced whenever the team has given him minutes. It’s a risk, but if the Hornets play Lamb for more than 20 minutes again, he is a sure 6x value. If they play him more than 30, he could approach 10x value.

My pick: Harris(SG); Batum(SG), Lamb(G)

DraftKings
iFeb 19, 2017; New Orleans, LA, USA; Western Conference forward Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors (35) dunks the ball against Eastern Conference forward LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers (23) in the 2017 NBA All-Star Game at Smoothie King Center. Small Forwards

Best Bets:

Kevin Durant ($9,700): Durant had a nice game against the Sixers last night in his return to the court. The hand seems to be fine. Durant has topped 5x value in seven of his last ten games, which makes him a nice play against the Wizards. They don’t have anyone that can really match up with him.

Jimmy Butler ($9,300): Butler went nuts on Denver in the first meeting, racking up 55.75 DraftKings points. Denver scores a lot, and therefore gives up a lot. Butler will have every chance to hit this mark again. He has four straight games with at least 5x value. Butler is a strong bet once again.

Honorable Mention:

Wilson Chandler ($6,600): Chandler’s versatility keeps him on the floor for at least 30 minutes a game. He put up 35.75 DraftKings points on the Bulls the first time around. In the three games since the break, Chandler has averaged 33 DraftKings points per game. That is exactly 5x value, and exactly where his production will stay the rest of the year barring injuries. He lacks significant upside, but he is a solid cash game play.

Maurice Harkless ($4,700): The injury to Evan Turner has opened up a starting spot for Harkless. He has responded well, averaging 29.5 DraftKings points per game while starting. Harkless has very little upside, but if he is providing around 7x value, you take it and don’t complain.

Dark Horses:

Andre Iguodala ($4,400): Iguodala wasn’t negatively affected by the return of Kevin Durant. He kept his streak of 20+ DraftKings points games alive with his fifth straight. He has averaged 25.9 DraftKings points per game over the last seven games. Blowout or no, Iguodala’s production has stayed consistent. It should again tonight.

Brandon Ingram ($4,200): Ingram has picked up 50.75 DraftKings points in two games since the All Star Break. His production hasn’t been worthy of the number two pick, but there are plenty of picks who don’t even get to play in their first seasons. Ingram will be a good player in this league someday. Right now, he is a solid rookie with plenty of upside, which makes him an enticing option in GPP’s.

Denzel Valentine ($3,500): The Bulls have given Valentine more run after the All Star Break, and he has responded well. Valentine has 54.25 DraftKings points in two games. He wont start unless Butler gets hurt, but he is picking up all of the minutes that Doug McDermott had while in Chicago. He is just doing more with them.

My Pick: Iguodala(SF); Butler(SF), Valentine(F)

DraftKings
Feb 17, 2017; New Orleans, LA, USA; U.S. Team center Frank Kaminsky of the Charlotte Hornets (44) dunks the ball during the Rising Stars Challenge at Smoothie King Center. Mandatory Credit: Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Power Forwards

Best Bets:

Draymond Green ($7,400): Its a light night at the power forward position. Green was mostly quiet in February, but he exploded last night for 48 DraftKings points, or five more than his last two games combined. Washington presents another good matchup for Green. If he can get his shooting touch back, he will be able to be trusted again.

Frank Kaminsky ($6,900): Frank the Tank had 17.25 DraftKings in 18 minutes in the first meeting with the Lakers. He has averaged 40 DraftKings points per game with Cody Zeller out. Even if Zeller makes it back, I don’t see him taking the job back. Kaminsky is showing that he can be a good NBA player. Kaminsky is a tough matchup for the Lakers. He could have another nice game tonight.

Honorable Mention:

Derrick Favors ($5,400): Favors is still playing right around 25 minutes per game, but he is starting to get more out of his minutes lately. He is clearly getting back into the swing of things with 59.5 DraftKings points in two games since the All Star Break. It remains to be seen if and when Utah will increase his minutes cap, but they may not be able to hold him back for long if he continues playing like this.

Nikola Mirotic ($5,000): The trade of Taj Gibson has opened up the floor for Mirotic, and he has responded in a big way. Mirotic has 68 DraftKings points in two games since the trade. Denver is a little tougher matchup, but not enough to make me move off of Mirotic.

Al-Farouq Aminu ($5,000): Aminu has nine straight games of 5x value or more. He lacks upside, as he has only been above 6x three times, but he is a strong cash game play. He is still solid enough to use in GPP formats. Not every pick has to be a risky one.

Dark Horse:

JaMychal Green ($4,200): Green is the risky play of the Memphis power forwards, but he also has more upside than Zach Randolph at a much lower cost. Green has 51 DraftKings points in two games against Phoenix this year. His production has not been all that consistent, but this looks like a good matchup, and he has done well against them so far this year.

My pick: Mirotic(F), Favors(PF), Aminu(UTIL); Kaminsky(PF)

DraftKings
Feb 3, 2017; Auburn Hills, MI, USA; Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond (0) warms up prior to the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Mandatory Credit: Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Center

Best Bets:

Andre Drummond ($8,200): Drummond abused Portland in the first meeting this season, racking up 58.5 DraftKings points in that game. I don’t trust Nikola Jokic with those Denver rotations at all. I would much rather go with Drummond who has a chance to dominate Portland again.

Rudy Gobert ($7,300): Gobert has 73 DraftKings points in two games against the Thunder so far this season. Gobert is off to a strong start in the second half with 97.5 DraftKings points in those two games. The Thunder provide a little more resistance up front with Kanter back and Taj Gibson off the bench, but not enough to make me shy away from Gobert.

Honorable Mention:

Enes Kanter ($4,900): I don’t trust Jusuf Nurkic against a tough front like Memphis at his price, so I will go with Kanter against his former team. He has 47.25 DraftKings points in two games against Utah this season, which gets him near 5x value. Kanter played well against the trees in New Orleans, but Utah is still tough up front. Does he still have their number?

Robin Lopez ($4,400): Lopez is far from a consistent option, but he picked up 37.5 DraftKings points in the first game against Denver. Just keep in mind that Chicago’s front court situation is in flux as the Bulls seem to be trying to go younger. Lopez should be strong against Denver again, he may get less minutes than last time around.

Dark Horses:

Alan Williams ($4,100): Williams came out of nowhere, and now has 69.5 DraftKings points in just two games since the All Star Break. It remains to be seen what will happen with Williams battling Tyson Chandler and Alex Len for minutes, but Williams has been the most effective of the three so far in the second half. He is a huge risk if you are banking on him to keep it up, but he could also provide the separation you need in GPP formats.

Zaza Pachulia ($3,900): Pachulia picked up yet another game of more than 7x value, his third in the last four games since returning from injury. He is one of the best bargains around even if he only does play 20 minutes per game. At this price, he is going to perform above and beyond what you need. All you need to do is spend wisely with the money he saves you.

My pick: Pachulia(C); Gobert(C), Pachulia(UTIL)
