The parades in New Orleans haven’t stopped since last Sunday night (LITERALLYlaissez les bons temps rouler!) when the Woj Bomb dropped announcing the DeMarcus Cousins trade. And that’s despite the fact that there have been no wins, a broken thumb, and a looming suspension for technical fouls. So how do they keep the party going?

To help find out and review the first week of Cousins on the New Orleans Pelicans, Mason Ginsberg (@masonginsberg) joins Fastbreak Breakfast for a Mardi Gras episode. Mason is a contributor for ESPN’s Bourbon Street Shots and somewhat famously had his King Cake Baby twitter handle stolen from him. How long will it take the new-look Pelicans to find their stride? With several teams between the Pelicans and the playoffs, can they coalesce in time for a shot at the postseason? And after a bumpy first week, has any of the euphoria from the trade worn off?

  • Is Hollis Thompson or any of the other players on 10-day contracts looking like a permanent answer on the perimeter?
  • Has there been a specific reason for Jrue Holiday’s struggles in the three games since the trade?
