It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia this week will offer a unique perspective on a longtime supporting character. Here’s how to watch online.
Even though It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia chronicles the adventures of The Gang, it’s the supporting cast that really ties the show together. Characters like the McPoyles, Artemis, The Waitress, the Ponderosas, Fatty Magoo and Rickety Cricket are what keep people coming back.
However, it’s not often that Always Sunny will actually revolve an entire episode around them. That’s what they’re doing for “A Cricket’s Tale,” when Rickety Cricket will be spotlighted for the whole 30 minutes. Workaholics, a sitcom that has long been compared to It’s Always Sunny, did that this season when they centered an episode around Bill and Tez, but it received mixed reviews.
Here’s the official synopsis for “A Cricket’s Tale,” according to TV Guide:
"A day in Cricket’s world is spotlighted."
It’s clearly another attempt at an episode they did in season 11 called “Being Frank.” It was shot from a first-person camera, from Frank’s point-of-view, and it ended up being one of the more ambitious episodes they’ve ever done. However, Frank’s a main player, and Cricket isn’t. There’s no telling if this will be anywhere near as successful as before.

Rickety Cricket’s adventure from priest to drug addict has been one of the darker story threads It’s Always Sunny has ever had. It would be a shame if they actually killed off Cricket in this episode, but it wouldn’t be a surprise, either.
