Nikki Bella comes out to defend John Cena on WWE SmackDown (Video)

John Cena found himself in a tight spot as Maryse got physical with him after he ripped The Miz, but Nikki Bella came out to make the save

Groaning is often the appropriate response whenever John Cena gets on the microphone during an episode of WWE SmackDown Live. Too often, he resorts to cliches and pandering to try and look like the ultra white-meat face. However, whenever Cena actually starts getting real and saying something of importance, he remains one of the best promos in the business. He reminded us of that on Tuesday night.

With The Miz and Maryse in the ring, Cena came out and The A-Lister tried to silence him. In response, Captain “Never Give Up” went off about how The Miz was basically nothing more than a delusional copycat in the wrestling industry. He absolutely eviscerated his foe with his promo and left everyone collectively thinking “damn!”

However, Maryse was having none of it and, when Cena was finished and went to leave, she stopped him. The Miz’s wife then said to never speak to her husband like that and then proceeded to slap him. Of course, Cena was never going to retaliate, but that didn’t mean the reinforcements come out. And they did in the form of Cena’s paramour, Nikki Bella:

Nikki was short and sweet on the microphone herself, telling Maryse that she would break her if she ever messed with Cena again—in more colorful language, of course.

A mixed tag team match featuring Cena and Nikki vs The Miz and Maryse has been rumored for WrestleMania 33 for some time now. If I had to guess, this was the start of the build to that. With that being the case, this feud might wind up being better than expected, because they started it off with one fantastic segment.
