After being waived by the Dallas Mavericks, expect veteran center Andrew Bogut to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers by some time this weekend.

As many were expecting, veteran NBA center Andrew Bogut was not going to stick with the Philadelphia 76ers after being traded by the Dallas Mavericks during the 2017 NBA trade deadline. It seems that Bogut has found a landing spot for the rest of the 2016-17 NBA season.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, “Andrew Bogut had committed tonight to sign with the Golden State Warriors this weekend.”

Cleveland is the presumptive favorite to win the Eastern Conference for the third year in a row to get back to the NBA Finals. The Cavaliers will be the fourth NBA team that Bogut will be on in the last 12 months. Bogut was the starting center for the 73-win 2015-16 Golden State Warriors would lost to the Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals.

Adding Bogut will be yet another big pickup for the Cavaliers this season. The team seems to have finally gotten the most out of sharpshooter Kyle Korver who they got from the Atlanta Hawks several weeks ago.

Cleveland has found a more-than-capable backup point guard in Deron Williams, formerly Bogut’s teammate with the Mavericks. All three players are savvy NBA veterans that will make Cleveland’s rotation even deeper and all the more lethal.

Clearly Bogut feels spurned by the Warriors after being dealt on an expiring contract to the Mavericks to make room for Kevin Durant in 2016 NBA free agency. Now Bogut looks to be joining a team this weekend that should cruise through the Eastern Conference Finals. Cleveland’s likeliest matchup in the 2017 NBA Finals would be Golden State.
