Playtonic Games is officially bringing Yooka-Laylee to the Nintendo Switch. We knew this was going to happen, but now we have a trailer for it.

Yooka-Laylee was first coming to the Wii U. Instead, Playtonic Games switched their focus to the Switch. This made many of the supporters very frustrated since many were Wii U owners. We understand why Playtonic Games did this, but it’s still very disappointing for some.

Since then, we haven’t heard any announcements about the Switch version. Then on Tuesday, Nintendo released a short presentation for the Switch which focused on a handful of indie titles.

For all of you ’90s babies, it’s very likely that you had a Nintendo 64. We don’t blame you since almost everybody had an N64 and it’s one of the greatest consoles of all time. The most memorable part about the N64 was its selection of games. One of the greatest games of that era is Banjo-Kazooie. Rare developed this game and many others on that console.

Since Microsoft purchased Rare, we haven’t seen games like this for a long time. Along came Playtonic Games. This development team consists of a bunch of developers who worked for Rare. They know how to make these games works. With Yooka-Laylee, it’s looking like a nostalgic trip back to the ’90s but also an entirely new experience.

Check out the trailer below:

We believe that Yooka-Laylee will be a perfect Switch title. For one, you have options with the Switch. You can either place it on the dock and play on your TV, or you can play on the go. A game like Yooka-Laylee will be perfect for that kind of play-style.

April 11, 2017, is the current release date. It hasn’t been specified whether or not the Switch version will be released on this date. We sure hope so, though.
