After a terrible performance from beyond the arc last night, Stephen Curry again did not shoot well Tuesday night against the Wizards.
Oh boy.
Stephen Curry, the point guard for the Golden State Warriors, shot 2-9 from the 3-point line on Tuesday night in a 112-108 loss to the Wizards. These kinds of numbers are not expected from a two-time MVP winner and an NBA champion. Every now and then Curry will have these types of weird performances, but two nights in a row?
Curry shot 0-11 from three-point land last night against the Philadelphia 76ers, but the Warriors still prevailed and got the win over the 76ers. Tonight, though, was not the night for Curry to have another off night from 3. His teammate, Klay Thompson, is also a sharpshooter from three. Shooting at 42 percent from three this season, Thompson has been a constant on the team this season. Yet tonight, Thompson went 3-13 from downtown.
When neither Thompson nor Curry can hit their 3-pointers the Warriors are usually in trouble. Surely their trusty new free agent acquisition, Kevin Durant, could put them over the hump and get the win, however. Well the bad news there is that Durant hyperextended his left knee and logged a grand total of one minute on the floor.
Curry nor Thompson had a good night shooting and that is not going to bode well for the Warriors. There is no doubt that tonight, just like last night, was a fluke and the Warriors will land back on their feet in no time. The only way to fix a shooters slump is to have him keep shooting. That seems counterintuitive but it is the way that a shooter knows how to get back on track.
The Warriors next game is in Chicago against the Bulls, and Curry along with Thompson will look to prove that Tuesday night was just a rare occurrence and that they are prepared to wreck in the playoffs.
