DeMarcus Cousins was having blast at Mardi Gras
By Mark Gunnels
Despite being suspended for one game, the newest New Orleans Pelican DeMarcus Cousins is still enjoying himself in his new home.
Following the Pelicans’ heartbreaking loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder the other night, DeMarcus Cousins is prepared to miss his first game as a member of the team when they face the Detroit Pistons tomorrow night.
During New Orleans’ contest against Oklahoma City, Cousins received a technical foul, which is why he’ll be suspended against the Pistons.
After the game, Cousins was hopeful that his technical would get rescinded.
Unfortunately, the NBA didn’t agree with Cousins but don’t feel too bad for the All-Star center because he’s living it up for Mardi Gras in the Big Easy.
Every year, Mardi Gras is one of the biggest festivals that you will find in the country. People from all over the country travel down to New Orleans just to partake in all the different activities. However, with the Pelicans being 0-3 since Cousins and Anthony Davis have teamed up, some may take this the wrong way.
In today’s age of social media, it puts athletes out there to the masses to receive tons of praise and/or criticism. With Cousins being suspended and winless in a Pelicans uniform, some may think he’s not fully dedicated to the organization since he’s out there having fun.

With that being said, oftentimes we forget these guys are humans. Just how we like to have fun, athletes like to enjoy the same pleasures. Sure, it doesn’t look good when the team isn’t winning, but don’t believe for one second Cousins doesn’t care.
The Pelicans are currently four games behind the Nuggets for the eighth seed.
