Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Kevin Durant’s injury could see the superstar sidelined for months.

As Kevin Durant fell to the ground in the first quarter of the Warriors loss to the Wizards Tuesday night, everyone in Warriors land held their breath. Durant had an MRI late Tuesday night after the loss to the Wizards. Despite the awkward nature of the injury, the hope was that the injury would be resolved before the playoffs.

Until doctors announce the full extent of the injury, all reports are speculation. However, that hasn’t stopped Adrian Wojnarowsk from reporting that Durant’s injury could be more serious than initially thought.

The significance of the injury can perhaps be gauged by the news that the Warriors are preparing to sign Matt Barnes in the coming days. Attempting to predict what the Barnes signing means for the Durant injury is dangerous since we don’t have final news on the injury. However, it does signal the Warriors are preparing for the Durant absence. How long that absence will be depends upon the news we expect to hear today.

Durant and the Warriors have been playing at an incredible pace thus far in the season. The Warriors claim a 50-10 record while boasting the league’s best offensive efficiency, scoring 114.0 points per 100 possessions. The Warrior’s blistering offensive pace is what makes them entertaining. What is often forgotten is they combine their efficient offense with the league’s second-best defensive efficiency, allowing just 101.4 points per 100 possessions.
