The New York Knicks suffered a heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Raptors Tuesday night. Following a DeMar DeRozan jumper over Derrick Rose with 1.9 seconds left to play, Carmelo Anthony was able to free himself for a look to respond, but it was no good. New York will look to bounce back Wednesday night against the Orlando Magic.
New York has split two meetings with Orlando, including a loss in their most recent game, with Jodie Meeks torching them for 23 points off 6-of-7 shooting from long distance. The Terrence Ross acquisition has helped Frank Vogel’s rotations, giving him the ability to play faster. Ross has been slotted on the wing next to Evan Fournier to shooting guard, with Aaron Gordon moving back to his natural power forward position. The team looked much better in a recent 105-86 rout of the Atlanta Hawks. Terrence Ross lead the Magic with 24 points, followed by Nikola Vucevic’s 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The clock is starting to run out on the Knicks’ playoffs hopes. New York is five-and-a-half games out of the No. 8 seed and Orlando will look to carry momentum and push them back further. Expect Derrick Rose to come out aggressively following a humiliating night on defense against Toronto. Carmelo Anthony will control the offense with his ride-or-die jump shooting. Kristaps Porzingis is set to return after an ankle injury but may play limited minutes. In short, the Knicks will be themselves.
