NHL Trade Rumors: Predators acquire P.A. Parentau from Devils
The Nashville Predators have grabbed a nice forward, trading for P.A. Parenteau and giving up a sixth round pick.
Nashville Predators general manager David Poile is famous for being solid in trades. He usually gets his guys at a very good price. Obviously, this carries over into extension as well. With the clock ticking at the 2017 NHL trade deadline, Poile pulled off a heist, picking up P.A. Parenteau from the New Jersey Devils for a sixth round pick.
This is a terrific bargain trade for the Predators. Parenteau is a quality forward, capable of playing anywhere in the lineup. And all he does is put up solid production. The Predators needed some more scoring from their third line and this should definitely help.
In 59 games, Parenteau has 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points. He’s not a sexy addition, but he’s a high quality depth forward. And the Predators got him for just a sixth round pick. Parenteau is joining his eighth team of his career. This is his third trip to the Western Conference and his first since a two season stint with the Colorado Avalanche.
Overall, it’s a bit surprising the Devils couldn’t get more for Parenteau than a sixth round pick. But still, they at least got something for him. Parenteau is a free agent after this season, so it’s quite likely he’ll be joining his ninth different team.
Must Read: 1 player each NHL team should trade
In 483 career games, Parenteau has 295 points. He has 114 goals and 181 assists. For whatever reason, Parenteau has never really stuck with any NHL team. It’s a bit surprising, as he’s a quality forward who can score. The Predators might have just come away with the steal of the trade deadline. Especially when you consider the Ottawa Senators got a second round pick for Curtis Lazar.
