The 2017 Northeast Conference Tournament bracket, complete with a printable version for your use

Though there have been some quality teams to come out and into the NCAA Tournament, the Northeast Conference isn’t particularly known as a college basketball powerhouse. However, they still get the chance to produce an automatic berth with Cinderella potential. That’s why eyes should still turn to the 2017 Northeast Conference Tournament as it tips off on Wednesday, March 1.

One interesting thing about the Northeast Tournament is the structure as teams advance. As opposed to simply following a traditional bracket, they go a different route. The teams are re-seeded after the first round to where the highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed. In the other game, the second-highest plays the third-highest remaining seed.

Entering the 2017 Northeast Conference Tournament, the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers occupy the No. 1 seed. Though they have just a 16-15 overall record on the season, the Mountaineers rolled through conference play with a 14-4 record. However, they are followed closely behind by the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds. The Blackbirds went 13-5 in conference play, but posted a solid 20-11 overall record.

However, there’s plenty of parity in the conference as a whole as more than just those two teams could make a run at the automatic berth. Teams like Wagner, St. Francis (PA) or even Robert Morris could still make something happen.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the 2017 Northeast Conference Tournament bracket. To access the printable version, simply click on the image and you’ll be directed to a version you can use:

The drama of the Northeast Conference Tournament will certainly be seeing if Mount St. Mary’s can continue to dominate the rest of the field. If not, we could get a surprise champion and see a large glass slipper come out of the NEC and into March Madness.
