4. Edge

The 49ers need to find a pass rush. Last year the team posted 31 sacks in 16 games. Rookie DeForest Buckner led the team with six sacks. Ahmad Brooks was tied with Buckner as well, but Brooks may be a cap casualty. Brooks is a free agent in 2018. With the defense switching schemes and the 49ers being able to save about $8 million to cut him this offseason, they may as well make the move now, and not waste the time teaching him the new scheme.

However, the issue is that the team has Aaron Lynch and a bunch of questionable edge rushers behind him. Eli Harold may be best in the 4-3 as a linebacker off of the ball, and the rest are rotational players. The team can take the money left by Brooks and make a play for a pass rusher.

Jason Pierre-Paul could be the perfect fit. The 49ers are going to have a lot of money to spend, and he could certainly be swayed away from New York. Chandler Jones, Mario Addison and Andre Branch are some other names the 49ers could look for.

If Myles Garrett were to fall to pick two, the 49ers would be all over him. They could also address this need in the second round, while adding a lesser free agent, but multiple moves should be done to kick start the new defense.
