Is Logan in 3D? We let you know if Hugh Jackman’s latest (and last) Wolverine film Logan is being shown in 3D when it premieres this week.

Is Logan in 3D? As fans head to movie theaters this Friday to see Hugh Jackman pop his claws as Wolverine for the last time, many of them are wondering if they’ll get to see Wolverine slicing and dicing the bad guys in 3D.

Well, we hate to be the ones to break the news, but Fox has chosen not to release Logan in 3D. The film will be coming out in IMAX, but not in 3D.

The lack of Logan in 3D means we won’t get to enjoy Jackman’s many awesome fight sequences popping off the screen as he tosses bad guys all over the place. Though considering we are talking about Wolverine, maybe that’s a good thing. Do you really want the obligatory effect where those Adamantium claws come off the screen pointing at you?

The choice not to release Logan in 3D feels a bit strange, given that its predecessor The Wolverine was put out in 3D four years ago.

3D has also become a bigger part of Marvel’s movie release strategy. Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange and X-Men: Apocalypse are the Marvel flicks to have been distributed in 3D since 2014.

This year fans will get Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming in 3D as well.

But Logan is not your normal box office blockbuster. It’s been described by one of the producers as akin to a western. So with that tone in mind, perhaps it wouldn’t have made sense for Jackman’s swan song to be 3D, since it’s not the kind of film that’s supposed to jump off the screen at audiences.

Still, those 3D claws could have been interesting.
