The Kansas City Chiefs released Jamaal Charles this past week, ending his nine-year stint with the team. Here are five potential landing spots.

For the past nine NFL seasons, Jamaal Charles has been the face of the Kansas City Chiefs. A third-round selection by the team back in 2008, Charles emerged as one of the best running backs in the NFL, leading the league in rushing in 2013. Knee injuries have derailed his career in recent years, and this past week, the Chiefs released their star running back.

There are plenty of teams looking for a new running back for the 2017 season, and Charles would be a good fit on nearly all of them. If his knee is back to 100 percent next season, there is no reason why he should not be back at the top of the running back food chain. The four-time Pro Bowler can do it all out of the backfield, the only question remaining is which team will he be doing it for next season.

Here are five of the best fits for Charles in 2017.

Seattle Seahawks

NFC West,

The Seattle Seahawks once again made the playoffs in 2016, only to see themselves bounced out in the Wild Card round. Quarterback Russell Wilson continues to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFC, and with a healthy Earl Thomas back in 2017, the Legion of Boom should be back in full force. The Seahawks did a decent job passing the ball last season, as tight end Jeremy Graham finally looked like the player the team was hoping he would be when they pulled him away from the New Orleans Saints prior to the 2015 season.

With wide receiver Doug Baldwin emerging as a star, the Seahawks have a bunch of nice pieces in place on offense. The running back position was influx this past season, as Thomas Rawls could not stay healthy enough to be relied upon each week. When he did play, he was one of the more inconsistent backs in the league, and you have to wonder if he is the kind of player who can carry the load throughout a 16 game season.

Bringing in a player like Jamaal Charles would make sense for the Seahawks because they need to add another dimension to their offense. Not only is Charles a great runner, but he is also one of the better pass-catching running backs in the league. He would give Wilson an incredible safety blanket in the backfield, while spreading the field to allow big plays to Graham over the middle.

Adding Charles would make the Seahawks even stronger in 2017, which could mean their third trip to the Super Bowl in five seasons.
