A Big 10 mascot took part of the NFL Combine festivities this weekend.

Football has been gone for just about a month now, so this weekend’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis has been quite the relief. College football’s top prospects have arrived at Lucas Oil Stadium to perform in a series of evaluations; the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, and bench press are just a few that NFL scouts keep their eye on.

While the action is already underway in Indy, it turns out one college mascot and his school held a combine of their own. Yesterday, Rutgers Athletics posted a video of their mascot, the Scarlet Knight, giving his dreams of playing in the NFL a shot. See for yourself below:

First thing that has to stand out to you here is the perfect score on the Wonderlic Test. That is a trait that can shoot a prospect up draft boards in a hurry.

The Scarlet Knight is listed at six feet, 250 pounds according to the clip, and the narrator points out the fact that he can play just about any position. Time will tell.

If you notice above, we get some clues on who might be interested in the Rutgers product. Scouts from the Colts, Eagles and Giants were all present throughout the day, so that is something to keep an eye on.

Kudos to Rutgers on this one for the clever social media idea. Although the school’s football program has had a rough go the last few years, their connection with the NFL has been a prideful boast of late. No school had more representatives in the Super Bowl than Rutgers, showcasing five of their alumni on the biggest stage. Four of their former players on the New England Patriots will be gifted with a Super Bowl ring after a historic comeback a month ago.
