The 2017 NFL Scouting Combine has drawn to a close in Indianapolis. Here is how the cornerbacks and safeties did in the 40-yard dash.

The 2017 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is in the books. NFL talent evaluators got all the information they needed from the players entering the 2017 NFL Draft.

Monday, Mar. 6 was the last day of the combine with the defensive backs doing their on-field work at Lucas Oil Stadium. These drills included the vertical, the three-cone, and the always entertaining 40-yard dash.

Here is how the defensive backs did in the 40-yard dash at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine:

Four cornerbacks were able to run a 40-yard dash faster than 4.40 seconds. Minnesota’s Jalen Myrick blazed the way with a ridiculous 4.28. UCLA’s Fabian Moreau had a tremendous 4.35. Ohio State’s Marshon Lattimore marveled with a 4.36. UCF’s Shaquill Griffin impressed with a 4.38.

Four cornerbacks ran a 40-yard dash at 4.60 seconds or slower. Those four were Michigan’s Channing Stribling (4.60), Florida’ Teez Tabor (4.62), Memphis’ Art Maulet (4.62), and Oregon State’s Treston Decoud (4.62). Michigan’s Jeremy Clark and Maryland’s William Likely were the only two corners that didn’t run at the combine.

Four safeties ran their 40-yard dash at 4.45 or faster. Connecticut’s Obi Melifonwu led the way with a strong 4.40. North Carolina State’s Josh Jones had a 4.41. Michigan State’s Montae Nicholson had a 4.42. Washington’s Budda Baker would have a 4.45.

Five safeties ran a 40-yard dash at a 4.60 or slower. They were Saint Francis’ Lorenzo Jerome (4.70), Miami’s Jamal Carter (4.64), Boston College’s John Johnson (4.61), Clemson’s Jadar Johnson (4.60), and Colorado’s Tedric Thompson (4.60).

Eight safeties did not run at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine. A few notable absences from the 40-yard dash include Ohio State’s Malik Hooker, Iowa’s Desmond King, and Louisville’s Josh Harvey-Clemons.
