Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler trolled Detroit Pistons forward with a high five after a missed free throw in Monday night’s game.

Getting high fives from teammates after a made free throw is a common occurrence in the NBA. We see it pretty much every single night in every single game of professional basketball. Getting a high five from an opponent after a missed free throw? Not so common.

Monday night with the Chicago Bulls visiting the Detroit Pistons, Marcus Morris went to the foul line in the third quarter with his team down four. It wasn’t a particularly remarkable or meaningful moment in the game, but when Morris’ free throw clanged off the back of the iron, Jimmy Butler stepped forward to try and offer his condolences.

Troll jobs don’t get much better than this, folks.

As you can see, Butler stepped into the painted area with his arm outstretched, offering a high five for Mook’s missed free throw. Morris, who has developed a reputation of being a bit of a prickly thorn in this league, obviously didn’t return the “friendly” sign of sportsmanship.

Unfortunately for the Bulls, Butler’s hilarious sign of faux-friendship didn’t get his team the win. The Pistons won by 14 points Monday night, 109-95.

Morris finished the game with 13 points, six rebounds and three assists, shooting 5-for-13 from the field and 2-for-4 from the foul line. Butler led Chicago with 27 points, nine rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block on 7-of-16 shooting.

Butler’s troll job was hilarious, but perhaps he was just trying to offer encouragement during Morris’ underwhelming job at the foul line. After all, Jimmy Buckets made 12 of his 13 free throws in the loss.
