After knocking off the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second time in three days, the Miami Heat have now won 19 of their last 23 games. Leading the charge (at least spiritually) is the unwavering bravado of Dion Waiters. So how good is this team that started the season 11-30? Behind Goran Dragic, Hassan Whiteside and a host of motley wing players, will they be able to continue their charge into the playoffs? Given the right matchup, could they actually advance?

To help answer these questions, Wes Goldberg (@wcgoldberg) and David Ramil (@dramil13) of the Locked on Heat podcast join for the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. Where do the Heat currently stack up against the other top teams in the Eastern Conference? Who deserves the most credit for their turnaround? And is a winning season even a positive thing for the long-term plans of the franchise?

Also covered:

  • Is this winning stretch just a regression to the mean for an unusually bad beginning to the season?
  • Why should James Johnson have a stronger Sixth Man of the Year candidacy than the current leading candidates?
  • Does LeBron James have a complicated revenge plot for Pat Riley and Micky Arison based around Chris Bosh’s medical retirement and salary issues?
  • Is establishing a “karma of winning” more important than focusing on improving draft position?
  • What will the Heat look like next year? Which of current players are part of the franchise’s future?
