The Chicago Bears and Mike Glennon reportedly have mutual interest in each other.

It seems like the Chicago Bears have been searching for a true quarterback for quite some time. Rex Grossman, Jay Cutler, and Brian Hoyer are just a few of the recent names to try to fill that void. However, each of them has failed. The Bears, however, are determined to fill their biggest need. According to Ian Rapoport, Chicago and free agent quarterback Mike Glennon have mutual interest in each other.

The two sides would be an excellent fit for each other. Glennon is looking to prove that he can be a starting quarterback. When he’s been on the field, he’s been very good. His 2013 season shows he has some upside.

That year, Glennon threw for 2,608 passing yards with 19 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 games. Still, the Buccaneers replaced him with Josh McCown that offseason, limiting his playing time to a reserve role. He finished with 1,417 passing yards for 10 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2014. After that season, they drafted Jameis Winston, thereby making the former North Carolina State quarterback a backup for good.

Tampa Bay drafted Glennon in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He had a successful college career, throwing for over 7,000 passing yards in his final two seasons, throwing 63 touchdown passes and 31 interceptions.

There is a bit of risk in him, as he could be this offseason’s Brock Osweiler. Osweiler has a better resume than Glennon, but that still resulted in an expensive benching. However, if he can show his 2013 season wasn’t a fluke, the Bears might solve their quarterback problem and not have to pay too much to do it.
