The Replay: Put me in, coach!

This week, El and Al wanted to pay tribute to the ultimate unsung heroes of the NBA – the head coaches. Who are they? Where did they come from? Did they even play basketball? What is with their hairlines?

Before diving into the coaching world, Al recaps her recent trip to Oklahoma City where she attended a Thunder game. Importantly, she was mere rows away from Russ AND Nina! El also adds a brief recap of her trip to Florida, or as she refers to it, “The Promise Land.”

We took a moment to remember Al’s high school coach and remind ourselves that Al was a swimmer, not a baller like she is today. Next, we debate the question of whether coaches matter in the NBA. Our ultimate conclusion is we don’t know if they matter. However, we do know that Billy Donovan’s hairline is bonkers.

Continuing the discussion, we compare college coaching to coaching in the NBA. Al determines that El should start dating NBA coaches. Next, we spotlight lesser known coaches and consider who in the current NBA would make the best and worst coaches. El has faith in James Harden’s beard while Al would put her money of Steph Curry, but not Draymond “Money” Green.

Finally, we top it off with one of our favorite games – One night of fun, Marry, Amazing Race – where we choose from groupings of our favorite NBA coaches as well as the ones we have never heard of. Spoiler alert, El might soon be Elizabeth Lynn Stotts!
