Report: Kenny Stills re-upping with the Miami Dolphins

While the Philadelphia Eagles made a strong push for him, it seems that wide receiver Kenny Stills will re-sign with the Miami Dolphins in free agency.
The 2017 free agency market for wide receivers seems to be one of the deeper groups of a relatively weak free agency class. One guy that was set to cash in this spring was Kenny Stills of the Miami Dolphins, though it seems that he will be sticking in South Beach for the foreseeable future.
One guy that was set to cash in this spring was Kenny Stills of the Miami Dolphins, though it seems that he will be sticking in South Beach for the foreseeable future.
According to NFL insider Benjamin Allbright, the Dolphins will be announcing an extension to re-sign Stills. He was closely tied with going to the Philadelphia Eagles if he did leave Miami.
This is a great move for the Dolphins going forward. Stills had a lot of intrigue coming into the NFL out of Oklahoma five years ago. He was a former fifth-round pick of the New Orleans Saints but only lasted two years in the Big Easy before coming to Miami.
UPDATE: Stills is indeed re-signing with the Dolphins, with these being the reported contract terms.
Stills played a pivotal role in the Dolphins’ strong passing game in 2016, helping Miami make its first trip to the AFC Playoffs in eight seasons. Among others, he flourished playing under first-year head coach Adam Gase.
Gase is adept at creating a sound passing game. However, it was the ground game with running back Jay Ajayi that guided Miami into the AFC Playoffs. That being said, Miami’s future success is contingent on an emerging passing game. Ryan Tannehill is a bottom-tier franchise quarterback but is being given the tools he needs to prove he is more. He’ll get better the more he works with Gase.

Having wideouts like Stills, Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker only helps. Miami also traded left tackle Branden Albert to the Jacksonville Jaguars to acquire tight end Julius Thomas. Thomas has a working relationship with Gase from their time together with the Denver Broncos, and bringing back Stills on a new deal is another wise move in the Dolphins’ offseason plans.
