3. Hue Jackson knows what he’s doing with quarterbacks

For as bad as the Browns were last season, players and coaches seem to respect the job that head coach Hue Jackson did with his AFC North team that was devoid of talent. Most NFL coaches would have given up in a year where they had to deal with six starting quarterbacks, but not Jackson.

Before coming to Cleveland, Jackson had been the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. He took over for a very strong offensive coordinator Jay Gruden in 2014. Jackson helped bring Bengals franchise quarterback Andy Dalton along into two of his best years as a professional.

For a while there, Jackson actually made us think that Kessler could be a viable starter in the NFL in a couple of years. Keep in mind he gets hurt a lot and doesn’t have the necessary arm strength to thrive in the cold-weather climate associated with the AFC North.

Texans head coach Bill O’Brien couldn’t really reach Osweiler. Frankly, who has he made better at quarterback? Tom Brady was already good in New England and Christian Hackenberg couldn’t complete 60 percent of his passes in college. Maybe Osweiler can get back to what he was with the Broncos under Jackson’s tutelage? It could happen.
