A.J. Bouye: 5 reasons the Jaguars are a perfect fit
2. Bouye is young and hungry
Most look at the Bouye signing and have the reactions that he is a potential one year wonder and that he timed his breakout season out right to cash in, and potentially fall back off. However, Bouye has risen up from the top from an unknown player and is only 25 years old. He has a lot more upside, and he should be incentivized to cash in again in a few more years.
Bouye was an unknown cornerback coming out of high school in Georgia. Bouye was a two-star recruit and received just three FBS scholarships. Bouye chose UCF over Kentucky and South Carolina and began to forge his path towards the NFL. Still, he continued his journey of being underrated and was a undrafted free agent out of college in 2013. He didn’t start as a rookie before seeing a sparing amount of playing time for the Texans. Then, last season injury thrust him into a job and he never looked back.
Bouye has the drive to go from an under-recruited, undrafted free agent to one of the most elite cornerbacks in the league. To think that he can turn that gear off in one season would be crazy. Bouye should just now be approaching his ceiling, and he should able to hit it in this defense with this secondary.
