Kevin Love knows his teammates better than anybody
Kevin Love has sadly been out with an injury for an extended part of this season. The Cavaliers have managed to make due without him, but everybody knows that Cleveland is a superior team with Love in the lineup. Until he returns though, it won’t hurt him to have a little bit of fun. Tonight, in their game against the Pistons, the Cavs broadcast crew brought Love on to chat with them for a little while. This is always fun as it’s a way to listen to the players be themselves for a little bit.
Of course, while Love is doing this he’s also watching the game and showing how much more he knows than anybody there. He’s played with a lot of these Cavs players for a long time, giving him plenty of time to learn the ins and outs of his teammates strengths. Which is why it shouldn’t be surprising to anybody to see Love call a Kyrie Irving And-1 before it’s even happened.
There’s a lot to take in here, but easily the best part of Love calling the And-1 is the whistle hasn’t even blown yet. He’s already seen Irving get his man into a vulnerable position which means it’s lights out for the defender. Now what’s really interesting is did Love call And-1 cause he knew the shot was going to be made, or did he say it on instinct of Irving being fouled? Players yell And-1 instinctively upon being fouled not necessarily cause they know the shot is going to fall.

Of course, Love is a teammate of Irving’s which means he probably had 100 percent confidence that any shot attempt was going to fall. He had his man beat, in a spot he’s made so many shots before, and for a player that’s seen it as often as Love he knows exactly what’s happening next.
