After four years with the Buffalo Bills, wide receiver Robert Woods will be going back to California to play for his hometown Los Angeles Rams.

There was a strong possibility that veteran wide receiver Robert Woods would be leaving the Buffalo Bills in 2017 NFL free agency. After four years in Western New York, Woods envisions himself playing back home in Los Angeles with the Rams.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “Barring any snags, Robert Woods intends to sign a 5-year, $39 million deal, including $15 million guaranteed, with the Rams.”

Woods is a native Angelino, having played his college ball for the USC Trojans. He first made a name for himself as a wideout in the Pac-12 at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the Trojans. Before the Rams move to Inglewood in two years, Woods will get to star in his old USC stomping grounds playing for Los Angeles.

In four years with the Bills, Woods had 203 catches for 2,451 yards and 12 touchdown receptions. He didn’t go berserk in the Bills passing game, but with the amount of instability at the quarterback position in Orchard Park over the years, who has?

By signing with the Rams, Woods will play a big role in Sean McVay’s offense as a primary player in second-year quarterback Jared Goff’s development. Goff is more of a pocket passer than was Tyrod Taylor with the Bills. That could add receptions to Woods’ game going forward.

However, the Rams had been the worst offense in football during the Jeff Fisher era before McVay’s arrival in January. Los Angeles is paying big money for Woods to deliver in the passing game. Will he be up to all the challenges that lie ahead in playing for the Rams?
