Tony Romo rumors: Broncos, Texans trying to trade with Cowboys
One day after the Dallas Cowboys reportedly expected to cut Tony Romo, they are now attempting to trade him to the Houston Texans or Denver Broncos.
Only 24 hours ago, it seemed Jerry Jones was going to release Tony Romo into the wild. On Thursday, all of that has changed. While the Dallas Cowboys are still trying to move on from their 37-year-old quarterback, they are now hoping to get a draft pick or two in return.
Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that Romo is on the block, with the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos both attempting to acquire him. Denver could be feeling confident, considering general manager John Elway is supposedly talking trade involving Trevor Siemian and the New York Jets.
Both teams would be able to Romo without cutting any players, only needing $14 million in cap space to fit him onto the roster. Houston is likely desperate to make a splash after watching Brock Osweiler last year, while also losing A.J. Bouye and Quintin Demps in free agency this week.
Denver could return to the status of Super Bowl contender with a healthy Romo under center. However, should the Broncos acquire Romo and watch him sustain another injury, it would become the Paxton Lynch experience with Siemian being potentially dealt.

Should the Texans land Romo, they would be the prohibitive favorite in the AFC South. Houston has won the division each of the past two seasons, going 9-7 in each campaign. If Romo comes to town, the Texans would have a legitimate quarterback for the first time since Matt Schaub melted down in 2013.
