The ACC Tournament quarterfinals are taking place on Thursday, highlighted by a showdown between powers Duke and Louisville

The 2017 ACC Tournament moved along Thursday afternoon as we get closer to the NCAA Tournament with quarterfinal action. Of course, the matchup that everyone was pointing to during this portion of the ACC Tournament was a showdown between the Duke Blue Devils and Louisville Cardinals. These two squared off once in the regular season with Rick Pitino’s squad coming away with the 78-69 win back in January.

This time around, when it mattered just a little more, it was a different story. While Louisville held what they thought was a comfortable enough lead in the second half, the Blue Devils went on a run in the second half and were able to come away with the 81-77 win.

Of course, it only takes one look at the bracket here to see why this is so intriguing. As one of the semifinal matchups on Friday inside the Barclays Center, we will get the third edition this season of the Duke-North Carolina rivalry.

In their first meeting back in February, Duke got the upperhand on their bitter rivals, coming away with the huge win as they were turning it on down the stretch. However, last Saturday evening these two met for the required second bout, and this time Roy Williams and his Tar Heels team were able to get a bit of revenge in what was another solid outing from these two. Now, we will get to see these two do battle once again, this time on the ACC’s biggest stage of the season in New York City.
