Florida State is enjoying one of the best season’s in program history, and that continued on Thursday in the quarterfinals. While they were a bit sluggish at times — which they’ve shown more than once this season on their amazing run — Leonard Hamilton’s ‘Noles were ultimately able to come away with the 74-68 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies. Leading the way in the win was sophomore guard Dwayne Bacon, who dropped in 17 points and added 7 rebounds as well.

Notre Dame had a little bit of an easier time as they advanced, handling the Virginia Cavaliers 71-58. Throughout the course of the entire season Mike Brey’s Fighting Irish have been one of the more overlooked teams in college basketball, but as they inch closer to an ACC Tournament Championship, folks are definitely beginning to take notice. Bonzie Colson had a phenomenal outing in the win over Virginia, notching himself 21 points and 10 rebounds.
