Stephen Curry just passed his father Dell Curry in points scored in the NBA.
Wardell Stephen Curry, better known as Dell Curry, was a reliable shooter in the NBA during his career. Wardell Stephen Curry II, better known as Stephen Curry, is currently known as a reliable shooter. So reliable that he’s been awarded two MVP awards the last two seasons. But tonight, the second has officially eclipsed the first.
Stephe Curry and his Golden State Warriors faced off against the Minnesota Timberwloves Friday night, and on this basket, Curry officially passed his father in career points scored.

No better way than to hit a three to pass your father, right?
Curry has seen his rise to fame in the NBA the past two seasons only rival LeBron James. You would figure the way pundits discuss his stardom that he’s a Hall of Famer already. With the way he’s been playing, it’s hard to argue. But, it’s also good to keep in perspective that Curry is not as accomplished as LeBron was when he was Curry’s age (28).
Looking past Curry overtaking his dad, it appears the Warriors are on a uphill climb. Golden State are sorely missing Kevin Durant, who won’t be back until maybe the end of the month. The Warriors will rely heavily on Curry to attempt to return to the unanimous MVP form Curry played at last season. The question is, can Curry answer that call for the Warriors?

Even with Durant out, the Warriors would still be seen as a favorite to come out of the West. But whether the Warriors can keep that bargain will depend on Curry’s play this month. The post-All Star break stretch can be brutal for an NBA team.
With all that said, congrats to Curry on his scoring milestone tonight.
