If you’re getting bent out of shape because you don’t know when Daylight Savings Time 2017 will end, we’re here to save the day.
Daylight Savings Time 2017 will begin this Sunday, March 12, and end at 2:00 a.m. ET on Sunday, November 2, 2017.
If you’re not a fan of DST, you might want to consider moving to a place called Dripping Springs, TX, which sounds suspiciously like a nursing home. Regardless, according to The Statesman, there’s a lawmaker named Jason Isaac who feels that the “sun has set” on Daylight Savings Time, and he’s trying to introduce a bill to abolish it altogether.
A similar bill was introduced two years ago, but died before it came to a vote.
"“Isaac’s legislation hasn’t been referred to committee yet, the first step in the slow, wending process from idea to law. State Sen. José Menendez, D-San Antonio, has filed a companion measure to be heard in the Senate. His measure was referred to the Senate State Affairs Committee.”"
It must be nice to have the sole pressing concern, in your jurisdiction, be whether or not you’re going to observe Daylight Savings Time 2017.
But the main reason why the bill has died before — and will probably die again — is very Texas: residents of the town don’t want to miss either going to Church, or watching the Dallas Cowboys play. And even though the Cowboys are a long way from their glory days — back when they were America’s team, back when Tom Landry was coach — we can’t argue with Dripping Springs’ residents desire to see the boys in blue take the field.
Education reform, in the meantime, is being introduced into committee at the same time as the abolishment of Daylight Savings Time, said Isaac.
If you can’t wait for Daylight Savings Time 2017 to be over, and you don’t want to move to Dripping Springs, just hold on until November 2, 2017.
