The San Antonio Spurs have a major problem with their roster, as LaMarcus Aldrige is sidelined indefinitely with a minor heart arrhythmia.
LaMarcus Aldridge, the Spurs power forward, won’t be playing in games for the team for an indefinite period.
Aldridge has a “minor heart arrhythmia” and will not be participating in any Spurs games for the foreseeable future. This injury is a big blow to the Spurs organization, as the team is in the home stretch of the regular season and gearing up for the playoffs.
The Spurs are known for not releasing much information when it comes to important matters, so the details of the injury are not known. Aldridge has dealt with this issue back in 2011 when he had a surgery on his heart to try and repair his abnormal heart beats.
This injury doesn’t help the Spurs at all. They already have other injuries to deal with, which does not bode well for the playoffs. Kawhi Leonard, the teams MVP-caliber small forward, is out for an extended period as he goes through the league’s concussion protocol. Tony Parker, the starting point guard, is out tonight with what is described as lower back soreness. The team’s breakout rookie, Dejounte Murray, is also out tonight with groin soreness.
Next: The next generation: Dennis Schroder
The Spurs need Aldridge to get healthy as quick as possible. The playoffs are just around the corner and the Spurs are the No. 2 seed in the western conference, which means that they’ll be matched up against a powerful Thunder team. The Spurs will need to be healthy in order to compete with the triple-double machine, Russell Westbrook.
Aldridge is currently averaging 17.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and two assists per game. Even though he doesn’t have the best numbers, it’s more about Aldridge’s presence that makes the difference for the Spurs. Hopefully, Aldridge can return healthy and ready to play by the playoffs.
