Kyle Busch, Joey Logano’s crew brawl after Kobalt 400
By Nick Tylwalk
It’s been a relatively calm start to the 2017 NASCAR season as far as driver rivalries go, but that may change after Kyle Busch left Las Vegas bloody.
Think NASCAR has changed too much for the worse? You’re not alone in that point of view, but the end of the Kobalt 400 in Las Vegas on Sunday was as old school as it gets.
While Martin Truex Jr. was racing back to the start/finish line to claim the victory, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano made contact behind him. Busch ended up spinning across the line on pit road in 22nd, smoke billowing from the cockpit of his No. 18 Toyota.
After he emerged and was checked out by medical personnel, Busch apparently made a beeline for Logano. When the FOX cameras spotted him, he was on the bottom of a pile of Logano’s pit crew members. He emerged bloodied, storming away from pit road.

Logano did, giving his brief summation of the situation.
“There wasn’t much talking, just a lot of swinging,” Logano said to the FOX interviewers. When asked if any punches landed, he simply said, “Not on me.”
While he continued walking, Busch offered his own take on what happened and seemed to suggest that retribution was a possibility.
“I got dumped,” Busch said. “Flat out drove into the corner and wrecked me. That’s how Joey races. He’s going to get it.”

With the West Coast swing of the early 2017 season heading for Phoenix next weekend, it could be very interesting anytime the 18 and 22 are in the same vicinity. Stay tuned.
