2017 NCAA Tournament: South Region Capsule
The 2017 NCAA Tournament brackets are out! The brackets are out! The NCAA tournament is the single greatest spectacle in American Sports. Yeah, the World Series is fun to watch, but it rarely has the chaos involved in the NCAA tournament. Daytona 500? Yeah, itās a historic event, but they are still driving in a circle. The Super Bowl? Donāt even get me started on what a farce that is. The first four days of the NCAA tournament are better than any drama anywhere for the rest of the year! Enjoy it!

For those of you that do the bracket games, I will unveil all of my picks by Wednesday night. For those of you that play the round by round games, I will also put my picks out there after every round as well. There will be something for everyone!
In the preview, I will give you a favorite, and dark horse team (which would be a four seed or higher than could win the region),a team to watch for, overseeded and underseeded teams, and of course, a double digit seed most likely to win one or moreĀ games.
Up next is the South regional!

Favorite:Ā North Carolina.Ā The Tarheels are a very dangerous team. The only team that really had their number this year was Duke, who beat them twice in three tries. The Tarheels are a high scoring team with scores of NBA caliber talent here. As usual, UNC will be a tough out.
Watch out for: UCLA.Ā The Tarheels got a really tough draw. Kentucky could have been a number one seed. UCLA is right up there with the best teams in the country, and you could make a case for Lonzo Ball being the best player in the country. If there is a bracket that could completely implode, itās the South.
Dark Horse: Butler. Any team that beat the number one overall seed twice is a dangerous team. Butler also beat Arizona, Indiana, Cincinnati, and Xavier twice. Butler is such a tough team because they are so versatile. All five starters can play and guard any position.
Begging To Be Upset:Ā Minnesota. Ā I like the Gophers, but they are not really good at anything. They are balanced, but donāt really have an explosive scorer. Their defense is not great. Neither is their passing or rebounding. They look like a surprisingly average five seed, and we all know how that goes.
Overseeded:Ā Minnesota.Ā See above. Iām not convinced that the Gophers deserved a better seed than Maryland or Wisconsin for that matter. They did not get a better draw though.
Underseeded:Ā Kansas State.Ā The Wildcats are the team from the first four that could really make a run. Then again, if they lose, so is Wake Forest. I have Kansas State because they are one of the most frustrating teams to play. They beat on you, they slow you down, and they piss you off. Just ask Baylor. Willie Wildcat beat them twice.
Cinderella:Ā Wichita State.Ā The Shockers no longer have Fred Van Vleet or Ron Baker, but they still are one of the best shooting teams in the country. In the last three years, they have beaten both Kentucky and Kansas when they were number one seeds. They are lethal from the perimeter, and play very tough.
