And just for good measure, he actually said he’d “kill” MJ, not just beat him.

LaVar Ball seems like a guy who knows history of all kinds, so he probably knows the song “I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson” from Will Smith’s Fresh Prince days. He obviously just doesn’t think the lesson within applies to how he’d fare playing hoops against Michael Jordan.

All basketball fans know all about LaVar Ball by now and how his confidence in his son Lonzo Ball (and his younger sons as well) doesn’t just toe the line of hyperbole but jumps gleefully over it. Lonzo is better than Steph Cury. That one was all over the place.

As it turns out, Mr. Ball is also pretty impressed with his younger self.

Yep, a one-on-one game between Ball and the GOAT is apparently a mismatch that would lead to humiliating defeat for Jordan.

In the full USA Today article, Ball explains his logic, which essentially boils down to the idea that he’d simply back Jordan down in the post and manhandle him physically, then call a bunch of fouls on him. That seems like pretty weak sauce on most basketball courts this writer has ever seen, but Ball has seen a lot more hoops, so who knows?

Ball also discusses how he’s seeking a billion dollars (yes, billion with a ‘b’) for his sons to sign with Nike or Under Armour, though at least he generously says he’d settle for $100 million over 10 years. it says something when that’s not even remotely outrageous compared to some of the other things he’s said.

Meanwhile, we suspect Michael Jordan isn’t going to be all that concerned when he hears about this. Though if it would get Lonzo Ball to the Charlotte Hornets, maybe he’d let LaVar Ball score a few buckets on him today.
